Leather
leather is a sustainable, renewable product that is a by-product of a major food source. A factor not to be ignored; a shift in focus (to green products) by the design community has made this an increasingly important factor when specifying both exterior and interior materials. If these hides were not tanned into usable leather, they would be putrefying in a land fill. Leather has an impeccable pedigree that runs from prehistory to Polo; a leather hide was undoubtedly the first floor covering in prehistory; used in all the better caves.

Natural Fiber Carpet
A product as timeless as the wool carpet is also very timely, since many people prefer to have carpets today that are made out of 100% wool for their many benefits. Even wool blends offer many attractive properties. Some of the principle benefits of the wool carpet include that wool isn’t likely to harbor dust mites or be an indoor pollutant (though some people are allergic to wool). Wool fibers have a natural stain resisting property called lanolin, which may help resist some stains. A wool carpet is also biodegradable and made from a renewable resource, so it can be called "green" carpeting. Wool is also considered a good fiber because of its durability.

Sisal, Grasses, Jute, and Coir
Sisal fiber used in carpets and rugs is the highest of three cordage grades that comes from the Agave Sisalana plant. The most popular sources for Sisal fiber are South and Central America and Africa. Sea grasses are from flowering plants of one of four families grown in a marine, fully salt water environment. The long and narrow leaves have recently been woven into furniture and floor coverings. Coir fibers are found between the husk and outer shell of a coconut. This material primarily comes from India or Sri Lanka.

Synthetic Carpet
Carpet not only quiets a room but also offers homeowners more warmth and softness to touch than any other flooring product. Carpet is also more forgiving when installed over uneven subfloors, such as an uneven concrete slab.

Area Rugs
Area rugs can both protect and beautify a location... even make it more comfortable to put your feet on the floor when you wake up in the morning. We do not stock area rugs by the hundreds in our showroom. We do not want to push our inventory on you like some places. We would rather you find something that meets your needs and fits your space. FloorSpace has thousands of options to choose from in area rugs alone and that doesn't include custom solutions. Take any carpeting material and we can make an area rug for you.

Bamboo
Bamboo flooring is a hybrid product similar to engineered hardwoods. But it's not wood: It's a grass. Bamboo stalks are milled into strips, then reassembled as floorboards. The boards are typically 3/8 in. or 5/8 in. thick, and have either square edges (on unfinished boards) or microbeveled ones (on pre-finished boards).

Depending on how the strips are aligned, the flooring resembles either quartersawn or flat-sawn hardwood. The unmistakable figure of the bamboo nodes adds a visual interest to the "flat-sawn" boards.

Ceramic
Ceramic tile is a natural product made up of clay, a number of other naturally-occurring minerals and water. Ceramic tile comes in both glazed and unglazed tiles. Glazed ceramic tile has a ceramic coating applied to the tile body which gives the tile its color and finish. Ceramic tile is a popular choice for your interior floors and walls and offers unlimited decorating possibilities.

Commercial Carpet
The role of commercial carpet is an important one. Within any building, whether office, hotel or school the floor is the most abused surface, taking not only the constant footfall, but also having to cope with dirt, spills and anything else a busy premises can throw at it.

Commercial Laminate
A multi-layer synthetic product that can offer a simulated look of wood, stone, textiles, or even brush strokes with a photographic applique layer. Commercial products offer a thicker protective coating, stronger substrate and locking system for more durable installations. Spaces that will be more free of dirt and sand are excellent applications of laminate as continuous abrasion will reduce the life of the decorative surface. FloorSpace can offer a variety of commercial laminate options to achieve a variety of design results.

Cork
Another ambassador from "green" land, cork (like linoleum and bamboo) originates from a natural source not endangered by its harvesting. Cork tiles are made of the bark of the cork oak tree, bark that can be peeled off every decade (the trees live to be 150 years old). It is naturally anti-microbial and has excellent insulation properties, ensuring minimal heat loss and comfortable warm walking surface. Frank Lloyd Wright liked cork, and he installed it in houses where it endures today.

Fitness / Athletic Rubber
State-of-the-art polymer technologies have revolutionized the sports flooring business. Architects and designers have come to realize the fact that recycled products can perform at the same high levels as virgin rubber at a substantial cost savings. Flooring options as these can come in rolls, tiles, or interlocking puzzle pieces.

Glass
There are four main types of glass tile: smalti, fused, sintered, and cast. In addition, there are two prominent glass surface treatments for these tiles: slumping and etching. Each give a different look and feel for use as accents, wall tiles, or on the floor.

Laminate
Laminate floors can give you realistic looking ceramic or stone tile appearances without the hassle of having to clean soiled grout joints and is far less costly to install. Also, if you are concerned with upkeep of a wood floor (especially with large pets) than a laminate floor may be your answer. If you are concerned with tearing up your old floor than a floating laminate floor may be a great alternative for you.

Linoleum
Although linoleum floors have been around for more than a century many people confuse it with vinyl floors. The fact is the two floors are very different and should not be grouped together. Linoleum is primarily made of all natural products, such as linseed oil from flax, wood powder, limestone, resins and some colored pigments. The backing is made from jute, which is a natural grass.

Luxury Vinyl Tile
The durable construction of Luxury Vinyl Tile includes a protective wear layer which resists scratches, scuffs, rips, tears and gouges. Generally, the thicker the vinyl is, the longer it's going to last. When compared to traditional sheet vinyl, Vinyl Tile is easier to install and it's much easier to repair if one particular tile is damaged later. Luxury Vinyl Tile styles range from the look of natural Ceramic tile, Stone, Marble to more creative and artistic patterns. The multitude of Vinyl Tile varieties allows you to really have any look you want for your home or commercial setting.

Metal
Metal tiles can be made of stainless steel or any other type of metal material. One popular option is to use recyclable metal tiles as a means to save the environment. Metal tiles can add a unique, customized look to any room. They come in a wide variety of colors, textures and finishes. These tiles can be used as flooring, or work very well as accent pieces when combined with hardwood, ceramic, or stone.

Resilient Sheet
The unique manufacturing processes used today can replicate the look and textures of real ceramic tile, stone and wood grains. Vinyl floors are manufactured in both sheet and tile. The vinyl sheet floors are offered in both 6 foot and 12 foot widths and the vinyl tiles come in various sizes and thicknesses. Both types of vinyl floors come in a wide array of patterns and colors.

Rubber
Rubber flooring is made from a rubber tree, a 100% renewable resource. It is easy to install and maintain, is anti-static and provides effective sound insulation and vibration reduction. Rubber flooring is also resistant to fading and cigarette burns. Some rubber flooring is made from synthetic rubber, this is not a sustainable product.

Solid Hardwood
If you are like most people you probably love the look and charm of real hardwood flooring. For centuries people have used wood floors throughout their homes to add warmth and charm. Hardwood floors never seem to go out of fashion and can add real value to your home. Today, many designers recommend hardwood floors as the main base-layer and then suggest a rug to enhance the room's overall interior color scheme.

Stone
Natural stone floors offer a distinct and beautiful alternative to your flooring choices. Each stone has it own unique visual appearance. Unlike glazed ceramic tiles, stone tiles do not have a protective glazed coating on top and the color goes all the way through the tiles.

Vinyl Composite Tile (VCT)
Vinyl composition tile (VCT) is a finished flooring material used primarily in commercial and institutional applications. Vinyl composition tiles took the place of asbestos tiles, which were widely used in schools, hospitals, offices, and public buildings up until the 1980s. Vinyl tiles are composed of colored vinyl chips formed into solid sheets of varying thicknesses (1/8” is most common) by heat and pressure and cut into 12” squares. Vinyl tile is favored over other kinds of flooring materials in high-traffic areas because of its low cost, durability, and ease of maintenance. Vinyl tiles have high resilience to abrasion and impact damage and can be repeatedly refinished with chemical strippers and mechanical buffing equipment.

Woven Vinyl
With many of the same look and feel properties of a textile, woven vinyl also brings with it exceptional wear resistance and an ease of handling and installation. This material is an excellent option for public spaces: hotels, offices, shops and other spaces meeting financial and environmental requirements.
